First Deputy Secretary General of UN to visit Uzbekistan
On June 8-9 this year, Amina Mohammed, First Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, will visit the Republic of Uzbekistan, the MFA press service reported.
Within the framework of her visit, it is planned to hold negotiations in the Senate of Oliy Majlis and the Agency for Youth Affairs, as well as meetings with women leaders of Uzbekistan, during which topical issues of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UN will be discussed.
According to the United Nations, she is the First Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations and Chair of the United Nations Sustainable Development Group.
Prior to her appointment to this position, Mohammed served as Environment Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, where she led the country’s climate change and environmental efforts.
Mohammed started her career working on the design of schools and hospitals in Nigeria. She served as an advocate focusing on expanding access to education and other social services before moving into the public sector, where she worked as an adviser to four successive presidents on poverty alleviation, public sector reform and sustainable development.
