Agriculture Minister of Hungary to visit Uzbekistan

Ambassador of Uzbekistan Abat Fayzullayev met in Budapest with the Deputy Secretary of State for International Relations of the Ministry of Agriculture of Hungary Oszkár Ökrös.

The parties discussed the implementation of joint projects in the field of agriculture, defined in the “road maps” adopted on the basis of official visits at the highest level, as well as organizing the visit of the Hungarian delegation to Uzbekistan.

During the conversation, it was noted that cooperation between the two countries in the field of agriculture is developing rapidly and close ties have been established between the relevant departments.

On the basis of a cooperation agreement signed on February 17, 2021 between the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan and the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Natural Sciences, the Center established in the Yukori-Chirchik district of Tashkent region is conducting fundamental research in the field of potato growing, testing disease-resistant varieties brought from Hungary and cultivation of seed potatoes.

At the meeting, Oszkár Ökrös also informed that an official delegation led by Hungarian Minister of Agriculture István Nagy would take part in the first meeting of the OTS Agriculture Ministers, which would be held on July 3-4 in Tashkent.

During the visit of the Hungarian delegation to Uzbekistan, the minister will participate in the 1st Turkish Agroforum and will hold bilateral meetings with the leadership of a number of responsible ministries and departments of Uzbekistan. The program of the visit also includes a trip to Samarkand.
