Mild tremors felt in Uzbekistan as magnitude 4.8 earthquake hit Afghanistan
Mild tremors were felt in Uzbekistan on Wednesday at 09:30 after an earthquake of magnitude 4.8 hit Afghanistan, the Republican Center for Seismic Prognostic Monitoring under the Ministry of Emergency Situations said.
Earthquake coordinates: 36.4 degrees north latitude; 70.69 degrees east longitude. The distance from the epicenter to Tashkent is 556 km in the southeast direction.
The strength of tremors in the Uzun district of Surkhandarya region was 2 points (296 km).
Earlier on June 21, a devastating earthquake shook Afghanistan, killing over 1.1 thousand people and injuring even more.
