Uzbekistan builds over 300 apartments for earthquake victims in Hatay province of Turkey
A new residential complex built by Uzbekistan has officially opened in the Arsuz district of Hatay province, Turkey, providing housing for residents affected by the devastating 2023 earthquakes.
The opening ceremony was attended by a high-level delegation, including Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis Nuriddin Ismoilov, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Numan Kurtulmuş, Governor of Hatay Mustafa Masatlı, and other official figures.
Situated along the Mediterranean coast, the development consists of 24 multi-story apartment buildings containing more than 300 housing units. Reflecting the close cultural ties between the two nations, the neighborhood features streets named after Samarkand and Tashkent, the Bukhara mosque, a promenade named after Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the Uzbekistan Friendship Park. The complex is also equipped with a dining facility, as well as playgrounds and sports fields.
Speakers at the ceremony recalled that the catastrophic 2023 earthquake was a profound tragedy for the brotherly Turkish nation, and noted that Uzbekistan was among the very first countries to extend emergency assistance. Officials from both countries emphasized that the solidarity, deep-rooted bonds, and cooperation between the two peoples remain unshakeable.
