China expresses confidence that Uzbekistan is capable of preserving peace and unity

Zhao Lijian, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, announced the official Beijing’s reaction to the events in Karakalpakstan.
“China is aware of the events taking place in Uzbekistan. As a friendly neighbor and a large-scale strategic partner of Uzbekistan, China supports the measures of the Uzbek government to ensure national stability. We believe that under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Uzbekistan will maintain peace and unity,” said the official representative of the PRC MFA.
Earlier, the leaders of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and the Council of Europe, as well as the press secretary of the Russian president, expressed their support for the measures taken by the official Tashkent regarding the situation in Karakalpakstan.
