Daily electricity consumption in Tashkent sets a new record
The volume of electricity consumption for July 22 exceeded the peaks of the autumn-winter period by about 15%.
Against the backdrop of abnormal heat, electricity consumption in Uzbekistan is reaching record levels, the Energy Ministry said.
In one day – on July 22 – the volume of electricity used amounted to 237 million kWh, exceeding the average daily figure last summer by 6% (224 million kWh). Consumption has reached not only a seasonal but also an annual peak.
Especially high electricity consumption was noted in Tashkent. According to the ministry, on July 22, it reached a historical maximum - 27.5 million kWh, or 11.6% of the national volume.
Consumption exceeded even the traditionally high rates of the cold season. In the autumn-winter period of 2021-2022, the maximum consumption was 24 million kWh, which is 15% less than now.
Consumption growth is associated with the construction of new housing and the launch of new enterprises. It is also noted that the daily energy consumption in individual households reaches 1000 kWh, exceeding the average per household for 4-5 months.
The Ministry of Energy called on Uzbeks to consume electricity economically in order to avoid network congestion and emergencies.
