Russia to open a consulate in Samarkand
Work is underway to dramatically increase the number of employees of Russian embassies in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, Ivan Volinkin, director of the MFA consular department, said.
Russia opens consular offices in Oktau, Grodno, Cancun and Samarkand. Ivan Volinkin, director of the consular department of the Russian MFA, said about it during an interview with TASS.
“Through the Consular Department line, issues of expanding the consular activity are being actively developed by opening new consulates, including in regions with an increased tourist flow of Russian citizens,” he said.
Reportedly, it is planned to open Russian consular offices in Oktau (Kazakhstan), Grodno (Belarus), Cancun (Mexico) and Samarkand (Uzbekistan).
Volinkin said that currently “work is underway to radically increase the number of employees of Russian embassies in Asia, Africa, Latin America and, most importantly, in the CIS”.
“Among the countries where this work is at a more advanced stage, we can mention the Republic of Maldives, where the relevant intergovernmental agreement was concluded in 2021,” he added.
