Uzbekistan plans to increase export of IT services to $1 billion
President Shavkat Mirziyoev communicated with representatives of the IT industry at the Astrum Academy located in the Yukori Chirchik district, the presidential press secretary Sherzod Asadov reported.
It is noted that together with foreign partners, the “One million programmers” project is being implemented on the formation of IT skills of pupils and students in schools, lyceums, colleges, technical schools and universities.
The President said that this program will be continued in the future.
“In the next five years, we plan to increase the export of our country’s IT services to $1 billion. If we properly train young people for IT professions, provide them with quality infrastructure, computers and guaranteed orders, we will definitely reach this milestone,” the head of state said.
The President noted that taking up IT professions has become a trend among young people.
According to the figures, 14,000 young people have been provided with high-income jobs in IT parks today. At the same time, the number of self-employed IT specialists increased by 2.5 times since the beginning of the year and reached 43,000.
In 2022, 134 new IT companies, including 50 foreign ones, have been established in the country, and the number of exporting enterprises has doubled. In the last three years, the price of mobile internet has decreased by 9 times, and Uzbekistan has risen to 15th place in the international ranking (from 68th place). The volume and export of IT services has increased several times.
