Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructs Transport Ministry to develop transport corridors, solve logistics issues
On August 9, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with a presentation on the development and diversification of international transport corridors.
According to the presidential press service, taking into account the increase in the cost of transporting goods, the state provided 170 billion soums to partially compensate exporters. The size of the subsidy for transportation costs for enterprises exporting finished products to Europe has also been increased from 50 to 70 percent.
“Industry and entrepreneurship are developing more and more in our country. Since the beginning of the year, 50 thousand new enterprises have been created, and the number of exporters has exceeded 7.5 thousand. The volume of exports increased 1.3 times compared to last year and reached $8.2 billion. Along with the manufacturing of products, the establishment of routes to enter the world market is of no small importance. This is especially true today, when the issue of logistics is acute all over the world,” the report says.
Products are delivered abroad mainly through 9 transport corridors. The presentation discussed topical issues for each transport corridor, as well as proposals for their solution.
“The development of the transport sector is an important factor in increasing the competitiveness of the economy. Exports and investments will increase when the cost of freight transportation is low,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The Ministry of Transport was tasked with working out the most optimal routes for entrepreneurs and achieving a reduction in their transport costs.
The importance of resolving issues related to obtaining additional permits for the transportation of export cargo to Europe was emphasized. It was proposed to create joint transport companies with Pakistan and Turkmenistan for road freight transportation.
Instructions were given to speed up the reconstruction of the Kungrat-Beinau highway, to fully utilize its capacity.
