Egypt seeks closer transport and logistics cooperation with Uzbekistan
Egypt has expressed interest in expanding transport and logistics cooperation with Uzbekistan, with both countries exploring new trade corridors and joint infrastructure initiatives aimed at strengthening economic ties.
According to the Dunyo IA, Uzbekistan's Ambassador to Egypt, Mansurbek Kilichev, met with Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, Kamel Al-Wazir, to discuss opportunities for closer cooperation.
The talks focused on the development of new economically viable transport corridors designed to facilitate trade and deepen economic relations between Uzbekistan and Egypt.
During the meeting, the Egyptian side also presented plans to construct a railway and highway linking Cairo, Amman and Baghdad as part of the Egypt–Jordan–Iraq Trilateral Strategic Cooperation framework.
According to Egyptian officials, the project would provide Uzbekistan with a direct logistics connection to the African continent, creating new opportunities for trade and freight transportation.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to take practical steps to strengthen cooperation in transport and logistics, including organizing reciprocal delegation visits, signing cooperation memorandums and implementing joint projects.
