In order to study the situation, Kun.uz correspondent visited the Jomboy district and talked with relatives of the deceased.

A 57-year-old patient who took part in the first operation in Samarkand had liver cirrhosis with subcompensation stage, and was donated by her 35-year-old daughter.

As it turned out, the donor expressed high hopes for her mother’s recovery.

“My wife has had a lot of trouble in the last two years. She underwent a series of examinations and treatments. After examinations at the multidisciplinary medical center of Samarkand region, doctors recommended that an operation can be performed here. At first I tried to donate myself, doctors explained that it was not appropriate. After that, my daughter became a donor. The operation went well, and we hoped that my wife and daughter would get back on their feet. However, first the mother and then my daughter died before leaving the hospital,” Abdumalik Kurbanov said.

The patient died on August 12, the donor – on August 16.

The woman who donated to her mother had a husband and three children. Her husband was in Russia during the operation. He consented to his wife’s donation in writing and sent it electronically to doctors.

“I tried so hard to dissuade my wife. I warned that if she donates, she might get sick later. She insisted on her mother’s recovery. I had to agree. We talked on the phone even before the operation, my wife was healthy. Doctors also reported that the operation went well. However, both my mother-in-law and my wife died before leaving the hospital. I am not suing following my father’s advice. But why did doctors look at the situation superficially? Now we have received a paper saying that my wife died due to a heart problem. Shouldn’t the doctors who are endangering the life of a healthy person have taken all precautions first? The fact that she agreed to the operation does not mean that she agrees to her death,” Komiljon Usarov, the deceased donor’s husband said.

Usarov added that the woman underwent breast surgery in the spring of 2022.

Reportedly, doctors announced that the operation lasted 13 hours and 20 minutes.

“We successfully completed a complex operation. This was another innovation in Samarkand medicine. We have thoroughly prepared for the liver transplant procedure. For this purpose, our employees have been trained in Moscow, Kazan, Kiev, Istanbul, Ankara,” Lutfullo Makhmanov, chief physician of the regional multidisciplinary medical center, head of the department of Samarkand State Medical University, said.
