US Congress delegation arrives in Uzbekistan
On August 21, a delegation of the US Congress arrived in Uzbekistan to discuss the current state of bilateral relations and prospects for strengthening Uzbek-American cooperation, expanding inter-parliamentary ties.
The delegation includes the co-chairman of the “Caucus on Uzbekistan” in the US Congress, Republican Congressman from Mississippi Trent Kelly and member of the Committee on Ways and Means, Republican Congressman from Illinois Darin LaHood, as well as their staff.
American legislators will hold bilateral meetings in Uzbekistan with the leadership of the Senate and the Legislative Chamber, ministries and departments of the republic. During the visit, the delegation will get acquainted with the historical and cultural heritage of the country.
This visit is already the seventh trip of members of the US Congress to Uzbekistan since 2017. A bipartisan group of US lawmakers visited the country twice last year, one of which was led by Gregory Meeks, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman, from New York.
