Citizen of Uzbekistan wanted by Interpol arrested in St. Petersburg
He was wanted for creating a group on the Telegram network in the summer of 2021 and tricking people into transferring money to a bankcard, attracting them to receive double income. After that, without fulfilling his promise, he embezzled other people’s money and fled from the country.
As a result of information provision and rapid search activities, the suspect’s hiding place was determined and he was arrested in the city of St. Petersburg.
Currently, he is expected to be extradited to Uzbekistan for trial.
For information, a person arrested under the article specified above shall be punished with a fine in the amount of 300 to 400 BCAs or correctional work from 2 to 3 years or restriction of liberty from 5 to 8 years with deprivation of certain rights.
