Uzbekistan, UAE discuss issues of investment cooperation

Yesterday, negotiations were held via videoconference meeting between the Deputy PM - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjayev and the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the United Arab Emirates Suheil Mohammed Al Mazrui.

According to the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade, during the talks a wide range of issues of investment cooperation between the two countries, as well as practical aspects of interaction in key areas of strategic partnership and implementation of joint projects were discussed.

The parties noted with satisfaction the dynamically developing cooperation in the trade-economic sphere, as well as in the direction of traditional and alternative energy, logistics, healthcare, agriculture and tourism.

During the talks, prospects for the development of cooperation in the investment sphere were discussed. As noted, today the joint investment portfolio consists of 17 projects worth about $3 billion.

The results of the activities of the joint Uzbek-Emirates investment company with an announced capital of $1 billion, which has mastered more than $100 million to date, were highly appreciated. The importance of the implementation of the project for the privatization by the Emirates companies Mubadala and TAKA of the existing and construction of new power units based on the Talimarjan TPP was also noted, in this context, the terms of preparation for the signing of legal agreements in Tashkent were discussed.

Following the talks, an agreement was reached to continue a constructive exchange of views in order to strengthen cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UAE.
