Uzbekistan’s MFA condemns terror attack near Russian Embassy in Kabul
The Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan has made an official statement regarding the terrorist attack near the building of the Russian Embassy in the capital of Afghanistan.
“We strongly condemn the terrorist act committed on September 5, 2022, at the entrance to the Russian Embassy’s consular section in Kabul,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The MFA called for taking all necessary measures to identify the organizers and perpetrators of this inhumane action.
“We sincerely condole with the families and loved ones of the victims, and also wish a speedy recovery to the injured,” the ministry concluded.
The bombing outside the Russian Embassy in the Afghan capital Kabul killed two members of the embassy staff and at least eight Afghan civilians. The Foreign Ministry of Russia confirmed the death of the diplomatic mission employees.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the explosion “a terrorist act, absolutely unacceptable.”
Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said the embassy enhanced its security after the attack and additional Taliban authorities, including intelligence agents, were brought in.
“Let’s hope that the organizers of this terrorist act and its perpetrators will be punished,” Lavrov said.
