Senators raise issue of exploding gas cylinders

The problem of exploding gas cylinders was raised at the 32nd plenary session of the Senate. It was reported that 70 gas filling stations have been closed, and despite the hundreds of measures taken, explosions of gas cylinders are observed. “In practice, the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers on the purchase of laboratories for technical inspection of gas cylinders installed in trucks and buses is not implemented,” Senator Qutbiddin Burkhonov said.

On September 13, the issue of exploding gas cylinders was raised at the 32nd plenary session of the Senate. According to the Chairman of the Defense and Security Committee, Qutbiddin Burkhonov, despite the parliamentary request sent by the Senate to the Cabinet of Ministers on this issue and the subsequent elimination of hundreds of deficiencies, explosions of gas cylinders installed on buses are observed.

“At the previous plenary sessions of the Senate, one of the problems that plagues our people – the issue of gas cylinders installed in cars – was raised, and a parliamentary request was sent by the Senate to the Cabinet of Ministers. In June, it was reported that 815 of the more than 1,300 defects were eliminated, and the activity of 70 CNG filling stations was temporarily suspended. Despite this, this summer in Syrdarya region, a gas cylinder exploded while a bus belonging to “Pitak-Sarmishsoy” LLC in Khorezm region was transporting residents, and as a result, 6 citizens died on the spot and 9 people were placed in the intensive care unit of the hospital,” the Senator said.

Allegedly, this shows that the task of the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, that is, the task of purchasing laboratories for technical inspection of gas cylinders installed in trucks and buses, is not being fulfilled.

“Until now, technical inspections have been controlled only by eye. Therefore, in addition to the work being done, we ask to study the issue of purchasing technical inspection laboratories, conducting technical inspection of buses, and suspending or decommissioning gas cylinders that have been installed for more than five years. Also in August, Zhiguli and Nexia gas cylinders exploded in Jizzakh and Kashkadarya regions. When the matter was investigated, it was found that CNG filling stations were pouring more gas than the prescribed amount. It would be good if the Cabinet of Ministers took action on the issue of depriving CNG filling station employees of their licenses for a certain period when they fill more than the specified amount,” the Senator added.

He suggested that several organizations are responsible for this task, therefore, the government should take measures that cannot be delayed, and establish a single responsible organization that will regulate relations regarding gas cylinders.
