Foreign Ministers of Uzbekistan and Hungary discuss issues on bilateral agenda

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the foreign ministers discussed in detail the program and agenda of the talks as part of the official visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Hungary, considered the current state and prospects for the development of relations between the two countries.

It was noted with satisfaction that after the Uzbek-Hungarian relations were brought to the level of strategic partnership in 2021, the current high-level visit is a logical continuation of an active, comprehensive dialogue between countries, friendly and trusting relations between leaders.

The ministers agreed on the importance of continuing on a regular basis bilateral political consultations between the foreign ministries, filling the quality content of the inter-ministerial Cooperation Program, calculated until 2023.

A striking confirmation will be the signing these days of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Information and Analytical Center for International Relations under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and the Institute of Foreign Affairs and Trade under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary.

The exceptional relevance of actively promoting economic diplomacy through the implementation of joint projects in the automotive, pharmaceutical, construction, agricultural, tourism and other areas of mutual interest was also emphasized.

The ministers considered proposals to intensify the inter-parliamentary dialogue, strengthen ties in the field of education, including on the basis of the Stipendium Hungaricum program.

Particular attention was paid to deepening cooperation within the framework of international and regional organizations, in particular the UN, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and the Organization of Turkic States.

The Hungarian side reaffirmed its readiness to support Uzbekistan in the early signing of an updated Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement with the European Union.

Following the meeting, the heads of the foreign ministries held a briefing for media representatives.
