On October 18, commercial banks of Uzbekistan raised the US dollar exchange rate to 11,200 soums. This is the maximum in the last five months.

The day before, the CB exchange rate of the US currency rose by 11.83 and amounted to 11,143.28 soums – it has not reached such a high level since May 19. The dollar has been rising in price both on the stock exchange and in banks for six working days in a row.

The most favorable purchase rate is currently offered by Garant Bank (until July Savdogarbank) - 11,185 soums.

The previous period of sharp growth in the dollar exchange rate occurred at the beginning of March. Back then, it updated the highs every business day from March 10 to March 17, and every day the growth accelerated. If on March 14 banks raised it by 50 soums, then on March 18 they raised it immediately by 240 soums.

In response, the Central Bank increased its interventions in the foreign exchange market and allowed banks to set the rate on their own and change it during the day.

By the end of June, the national currency fully won back the devaluation, which in mid-March was 6.8%, twice as much as it was in the whole of 2021. In July, the dollar rose again to 11,000 soums, after which it fluctuated around this level until the end of September.
