Uzbekistan has risen from 85th to 78th place in the world ranking of the rule of law, compiled by the international organization World Justice Project. In total, the rating includes 140 countries.

Uzbekistan is between India (77th place) and Suriname (79th place). Among the CIS countries, Kazakhstan ranked 65th, Ukraine - 76th, Belarus - 99th, Russia - 107th, Kyrgyzstan - 100th.

The top 10 rankings include Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden, the Netherlands, Germany, New Zealand, Luxembourg, Estonia and Ireland. The last place is occupied by Venezuela.

The Rule of Law Index was developed in 2010. It measures the achievements of countries in the field of ensuring the legal environment: experts determine how the principles of the rule of law are implemented in everyday life. The data are grouped into eight benchmarks: limited powers of government institutions, lack of corruption, transparency of government institutions, protection of fundamental rights, order and security, law enforcement, civil and criminal justice.
