Female athlete from Uzbekistan becomes world taekwondo champion in Mexico
Svetlana Osipova bagged gold at the World Taekwondo Championships in Mexico.
According to the National Olympic Committee, Osipova secured the gold medal in the weight category 73+ kg.
In the final match, she defeated the Israeli Dana Azran. Thanks to the victory, Osipova became the first female taekwondo athlete in the history of Uzbekistan to win gold in the world championships.
Currently, Uzbekistan is holding sixth place in overall team standings with 1 gold and 2 bronze medals.
The tournament will last until November 20.
