The discussions focused on expanding the strategic partnership and allied relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
Mirziyoyev described Aliyev’s state visit as a historic event, saying the signing of a Treaty on Eternal Friendship at the summit would further cement the close ties between the two countries.
“Most importantly, every provision of our strategic partnership and alliance should translate into concrete results and practical action,” Mirziyoyev said.

The two presidents noted the rapid growth of bilateral relations, with regular dialogue now taking place between the countries’ parliaments, governments and various sectors.
Preparations for Aliyev’s visit included meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission and Business Council, as well as a Regions Forum.

Bilateral trade has tripled over the past five years, while joint projects are under way in energy, chemicals, mining, textiles, agriculture, urban development and other sectors.
The two sides said they see scope to raise annual trade to $1 billion. A programme outlining specific measures to achieve the target is being adopted as a key step towards reaching that goal.
The meeting also marked the launch of new cooperation projects. The presidents stressed the importance of making greater use of the Joint Investment Company’s resources to finance such initiatives.

The leaders also called for stronger connectivity between the two countries and closer cooperation on developing the Middle Corridor, the trans-Caspian trade and transport route linking Asia and Europe.
They agreed to maintain active exchanges in culture, education, youth affairs and sports.
A new building of the National Pedagogical University named after Nizami Ganjavi is set to open today, while work will begin on an Azerbaijan Park in New Tashkent.

The Uzbek side also proposed producing a joint film, “The Literary Bridge between Nizami Ganjavi and Alisher Navoi”, as a way of highlighting the shared cultural heritage of the two nations.
The second forum of rectors of leading higher education institutions will be held in Azerbaijan this autumn.
In 2027, the two countries will be involved in a major sporting event – the FIFA U-20 World Cup. The sides plan to develop a broad “Two Countries – One Championship” programme featuring joint sports, cultural and youth events.
Mirziyoyev and Aliyev also exchanged views on pressing issues on the international and regional agenda.
The meeting heard reports from the co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Commission and resulted in an agreement to adopt a roadmap for the timely and effective implementation of the agreements reached.
The talks concluded with the launch of joint projects in banking and finance, construction materials, education, oil and gas, tourism, housing construction, mining and agriculture.
