This was stated by the head of the government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin at a plenary meeting of the Uzbek-Russian business forum.

“For further joint work, we consider it necessary to deepen Uzbekistan's ties with the Eurasian Economic Union. In terms of market capacity, industrial and agricultural potential, mutual interweaving of economies, the union is one of the leading regional integration associations. It has about 190 million consumers. The decision to grant Uzbekistan the status of an observer state opened up new horizons for our friends for further economic growth,” he said.

In his opinion, the full membership of Uzbekistan in the EAEU will give a powerful impetus to the development of direct cooperative ties in new areas of interaction.

“And another significant moment. We in the Eurasian Economic Union pay serious attention to the safety and quality of our products. For this, a unified system of technical regulation has been created. In terms of scope and speed of implementation, it has no analogues in international practice. We are interested in ensuring that Uzbek goods meet high Eurasian standards. This is important for the realization of the four fundamental freedoms – the movement of goods, services, capital and labor,” the Prime Minister said.

Mikhail Mishustin also recalled that Russia is supporting Uzbekistan in harmonizing technical regulations with the norms of the union. Consultations are held, documentation and equipment are provided for direct confirmation of product conformity, accreditation of testing laboratories, ensuring the uniformity of measurements.

“We will continue this work, including helping with the retrofitting of laboratory facilities. We also agreed on this during the forum,” he concluded.
