Damage to Uzbekistan’s economy from power and gas cuts estimated at trillions of soums
The head of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan, Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, said that the damage to businesses from power and gas outages is estimated at trillions of soums.
“The damage is very huge. It is estimated in the billions or even trillions. When there is no electricity and gas, production decreases, taxes are not paid, and exports decrease. The development of the economy is slowing down,” he said in an interview with Ozodlik.
As an example, Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov spoke about the activities of Ferganaazot.
“In order to provide residents with natural gas, the Ferganaazot plant was disconnected from gas. As a result, by the end of the year they cannot produce goods worth 300 billion soums. This is a simple example for you. We analyze everything,” the official said.
In conclusion, he stated that the state will primarily provide gas to the population.
