Termez Airport opens after two months of reconstruction
As part of the reconstruction works, a new airfield complex worth 550 billion soums was built in Termez.
Termez International Airport has opened after 55 days of closure for reconstruction, Uzbekistan Airports reports.
On December 26, the airport accepted the first HY-65 flight of Uzbekistan Airways on the Tashkent-Termez route with 146 passengers on board after a long break.
As part of the reconstruction works, a new airfield complex was built, which includes a new runway 3,000 meters long and 60 meters wide, taxiways and an apron for three aircraft parking lots.
The airfield complex has a modern CAT-I ICAO lighting system, a meteorological and radio navigation landing system.
The project for the construction of the new airfield complex cost 550 billion soums. Other costs are estimated at around 377 billion soums. The final phase of the project – three aircraft stands and a second taxiway - will be completed by April 2023.
