In case of Nukus riots, prosecutor demanded 18 years for Tajimuratov and 11 years for Kallikhanova
In the building of the Bukhara Regional Court, the criminal case against 22 defendants in connection with the mass riots that occurred in the city of Nukus on July 1-2, 2022 continued. On January 11, at the open court session, the negotiations of the parties were heard.
According to the press service of the Supreme Court, the state prosecutor demanded to punish the defendants in accordance with the law, taking into account mitigating and aggravating circumstances.
According to Gazeta.uz, citing a source who was present in the courtroom, the state prosecutor demanded to sentence Dauletmurat Tajimuratov and Lolagul Kallikhanova, the main suspect in the Nukus incident, to 18 and 11 years of imprisonment, respectively.
The charges against both suspects include Articles 159 (attacking the constitutional system of the Republic of Uzbekistan), 244 (public riots), 244-1 (preparation, storage, distribution or distribution of materials that threaten public safety and public order) and 104 (intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Of the remaining 20 members of the criminal case, 18 were asked to be sentenced to a shorter term of imprisonment, and two defendants were asked to be sentenced to restriction of freedom.
