Uzbekistan evacuated 17 citizens from Türkiye’s earthquake-hit provinces to Tashkent
As a result of the earthquake, all Uzbeks were left without money and documents, and the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul issued documents and bought air tickets for them.
17 people who got into a difficult situation in Türkiye’s disaster-hit provinces were evacuated to Uzbekistan. In particular, on February 15, representatives of 4 families consisting of 12 people were returned to the homeland, the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul reported.
It is noted that 2 citizens of Uzbekistan were evacuated from Kahramanmaraş, 6 from Hatay, 2 from Adiyaman, and 2 from Gaziantep regions to Istanbul. Then, these citizens, who were left without money and documents due to the earthquake, were issued documents and bought air tickets.
On the same day, 4 compatriots who suffered from the earthquake were returned to Uzbekistan. The Consulate General said that one of the evacuees was a student of Kahramanmaraş University.
The Anadolu news agency reported that the university holidays in Turkey have been announced until the summer, and students will receive distance education during this time. According to the order of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, university dormitories serve as temporary shelters for earthquake victims.
On February 14, another Uzbek woman who was left without money and documents in the city of Gaziantep was helped to reach Istanbul and fly to Uzbekistan. Air tickets were also purchased for her from the special account opened by the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Turkey to eliminate the consequences of the natural disaster.
On February 12, 6 Uzbeks were evacuated from the Turkish provinces where the earthquake occurred.
Earlier, Dunyo IA of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that 11 Uzbeks and 6 Kyrgyz citizens were evacuated to Tashkent on a special plane from the Hatay province, Türkiye.
It should be recalled that until now 3 citizens of Uzbekistan have died as a result of the earthquake in Türkiye. Three compatriots were rescued from the wreckage, and more than ten missing Uzbeks are being searched for.
