Constitutional articles relating to Karakalpakstan remain unchanged

During the plenary session, the deputy of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, Mukhtar Ibragimov, said that the articles of the Constitution relating to Karakalpakstan remained unchanged.

“When the president met with deputies and activists in Karakalpakstan, he proposed leaving articles 70, 71, 72, 73, 74 and 75 of the main law unchanged. They remained unchanged. However, in the updated Constitution there are new articles, in turn, serial numbers change. Articles 70-75 will become Articles 85-90. However, I want to emphasize once again that the content and meaning of the articles do not change,” the MP said.

It should be recalled that on July 2, 2022, president Shavkat Mirziyoyev addressed the people at a meeting with deputies and activists of the Jokargy Kenes of Karakalpakstan.

Then the head of state announced that the articles of the Constitution relating to Karakalpakstan would remain unchanged.

“Taking into account the unique ethno-cultural features, national traditions and values, the special legal status of Karakalpakstan, it is necessary to leave the draft norms of the legal status of the Republic of Karakalpakstan unchanged, that is, articles 70, 71, 72, 74, 75 of the current Constitution will remain unchanged.  

I ask the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis to consider this issue as soon as possible. Dear residents of Karakalpakstan. I repeat - our duty is to preserve the long-lasting friendship and brotherhood, mutual respect and kindness, our unity, the atmosphere of peace and stability that has reigned in our country for centuries. This is the main goal of our constitutional reforms,” Mirziyoyev said.
