The Administrative Responsibility Code is being amended to provide for the introduction of administrative liability for obstructing the activities of healthcare workers. The relevant law was signed by Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Thus, the Administrative Responsibility Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan is supplemented by Article 197-7 – obstruction of the legitimate medical activities of a medical worker, or the impact on a medical worker in various illegal forms.
This offense entails a fine of 5 to 7 BCAs (1.5 – 2.1 million soums), and for officials – from 7 to 10 BCAs (2.1 – 3 million soums) or administrative arrest for up to 15 days.
Earlier, senators noted that cases of attacks on medical workers by patients and their close relatives have recently become more frequent. Subsequently, unfounded accusations were made against healthcare workers of the deterioration in the health of patients or their death, and there were also cases of attacks on doctors and paramedical personnel without any reason.
Adoption of this law will serve to protect the rights of medical workers and prevent various interferences in their professional activities, increase the authority and status of the medical profession, and provide citizens with timely and high-quality medical care.
