Young woman gives birth to her child on board of Uzbekistan Airways airliner
A 27-year-old passenger gave birth to a boy on board a plane flying from Tashkent to Istanbul.
Flight HY273 on the route Tashkent-Istanbul on April 26 was different from other flights, as a young woman gave birth to a child on board, the airline said.
“It happened when the plane was about to reach Istanbul. 27-year-old passenger Sitora A. turned to the flight attendants with complaints of feeling unwell. The foreman, assessing the situation, asked the passengers if there were doctors among them,” the airliner’s report reads. “A little later, a boy was born to the passenger at the 28th week of pregnancy.”
After a safe landing, the medical personnel of the Istanbul International Airport took the newborn and her mother to a clinic. Their condition is assessed as stable.
“On behalf of the airline team, we congratulate the parents on the birth of the child and express our gratitude to the crew and doctors who assisted in the delivery on board. To celebrate this event, Uzbekistan Airways will present memorable gifts to passengers who provided all possible assistance during childbirth. Perhaps the baby born on World Pilot Day will connect his life with the sky and aviation,” the airline noted.
