Attendance coverage exceeds 62%, the referendum considered valid
The referendum on the adoption of the new version of the Constitution of Uzbekistan has been recognized as having been held, CEC Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission Bakhrom Kuchkarov said.
According to the Law “On Referendum”, a referendum is considered to have taken place if more than half of the citizens included in the voter list participate in the referendum.
In order for the decision to be recognized as adopted in the referendum, more than half of the citizens who participated in the voting must vote in favor.
According to the Central Election Commission, as of 13:00, the number of people who voted exceeded 12 million, and the turnout rate reached 62.24%.
The highest activeness has been observed in Jizzakh, Andijan and Syrdarya regions (66-67%). Voter turnout in Tashkent reached 55%.
