Siemens to build two TPPs in Uzbekistan
An agreement was reached on the construction of thermal power plants in Surkhandarya and Navoi regions in cooperation with the German company Siemens. According to the Kun.uz correspondent from Berlin, this was announced on May 2 at the German-Uzbekistan business forum.
The Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan, Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, told the Kun.uz correspondent some details of the agreement.
“For the first time, Siemens is participating not only as a supplier of equipment, but also as an investor. We have agreed with this company to build a new TPP in Surkhandarya, to build a TPP within the framework of the chemical cluster being established in Navoi, and to build wind and solar energy stations with a capacity of up to 1000 MW.
It certainly won’t happen overnight. For example, if the construction of the Surkhandarya nuclear power plant starts this year, it will be operational in 2026. For 2023, we have signed a contract for turbines available at Siemens. These turbines will be installed in thermal centers in Bukhara and Mubarak. We have agreed to deliver and install these turbines this year and start them up by December. That is, 150-160 MW of new capacity is planned to be put into operation,” Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov said in an interview at the business forum held in Berlin.
It should be recalled that on May 2, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev started his official visit to Germany.
Earlier, it was reported that the production of microchips in Uzbekistan is planned in cooperation with the German company “Infineon Technologies”.
