Uzbekistan, Latvia activate cooperation in agriculture
Ambassador of Uzbekistan Kadamboy Sultanov held a meeting with Minister of Agriculture of Latvia Didzis Shmitz.
According to the information of the Embassy of Uzbekistan, during the negotiations, detailed views were exchanged regarding the prospects of activating trade and investment, high-tech, industrial and scientific-technical partnership between the two countries.
The minister noted that Uzbekistan is Latvia’s main partner in Central Asia. Agriculture is one of the important areas of bilateral cooperation.
In this regard, Didzis Shmitz announced that the capabilities of leading Latvian specialists, enterprises and organizations involved in the above-mentioned areas will be mobilized in order to implement Uzbekistan-Latvia agreements in the fields of agriculture, ecology, standardization and certification.
The Latvian side noted that important systems of cooperation, such as the Intergovernmental Commission, the Working Group on Agriculture and the Business Council, are aimed at effective use of bilateral institutional mechanisms.
During the talks, the parties also discussed the schedule, level and agenda of the planned contacts between the agricultural agencies of the two countries.
