Three previously closed checkpoints on Kyrgyz-Uzbek border to be reactivated
Video footage of the wall destruction at the “Bekabad – Khanabad” border crossing point on the border with the Kyrgyz Republic was disseminated. It was found that the video was shot on the border of Kyrgyzstan’s Jalalabad region and Uzbekistan’s Andijan region.
According to the Kyrgyz border service, the Uzbek side is preparing to restart this checkpoint, Kaktus media writes.
This border checkpoint was completely closed by Uzbekistan in 2010. At that time, the “Korasuv” and “Korabagish” crossing points to Osh region were closed.
Reportedly, all these border checkpoints will be opened soon. The Kyrgyz side is also fully ready to resume the passage of citizens through these points.
The issue of opening additional transit points between the two countries has been discussed by the governments of the countries for the past few years. The purpose of opening such points is to facilitate the transit of traffic flows.
Earlier, it was reported that negotiations on the demarcation of the state border were held between the government delegations of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan in the city of Samarkand.
