Uzbekistan's first ambassador to Serbia begins official duties
The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Serbia (with residence in Budapest), Oybek Shakhavdinov, has presented copies of his credentials to the Head of the Diplomatic Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Branko Radovanović.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed key issues on the bilateral agenda and expressed mutual interest in further strengthening Uzbekistan–Serbia relations.
The Serbian side welcomed the appointment of Uzbekistan’s first ambassador, noting that this step would give new impetus to the entire spectrum of bilateral cooperation.
It is worth noting that Oybek Shakhavdinov has served as Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Hungary since March 2024, and concurrently holds accreditation in Slovenia, Croatia, and Montenegro.
Ambassador Shakhavdinov is a graduate of the University of Birmingham (UK), Tashkent State University of Law, and the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO). He has worked within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs system since 2001, holding various posts in the central office, at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, and at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Brussels. Prior to his current appointment, he headed the Department for Cooperation with European Countries and EU Institutions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
