Governor of Syrdarya region elected senator
In the Senate of Oliy Majlis, elections were held for a vacant seat from the Syrdarya region.

According to the results of the elections, the governor of Syrdarya region Akmal Mahmudaliyev was elected a member of the Senate of Oliy Majlis.
Akmal Mahmudaliyev was born in 1974 in the Fergana region. In 1995, he graduated from the Samarkand Cooperative Institute, and in 2005 – from the Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology.
He worked in the Cabinet of Ministers, became governor of the Uchkuprik district (Fergana region), deputy governor of Navoi region for agriculture and water management.
In November 2022, Akmal Mahmudaliyev was appointed acting governor of the Syrdarya region. In early April 2023, he was officially approved as governor.
Earlier, the governor of Surkhandarya region Ulugbek Kosimov was elected to the Senate of Oliy Majlis.
