Uzbekistan to receive 4 more Talgo electric trains
New trains will be put into use on the railway route "Bukhara-Urganch-Khiva".
4 Talgo-250 high-speed electric trains will be brought from Spain to Uzbekistan. According to Duny IA, Uzbekistan's Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Spain Jakhongir Ganiyev discussed the possibilities of organizing the purchase of Talgo-250 trains on the Uzbek side in a meeting with the President of Patentes Talgo Company, Carlos Palasi Oriol.
"Carlos Palasi Oriol stated that a large order for 64 trains has been received from Denmark and Germany, and despite the fact that the company's factories are currently working on a tight schedule for the preparation of these trains, Patentes Talgo is ready to ensure the preparation and delivery of 4 electric trains in the terms planned by the Uzbek side," the agency said.
The new trains are expected to be financed by the long-term preferential loans of the Fund for the Internationalization of Enterprises (FIEM) of the Spanish government.
It should be recalled that this issue was discussed at the meeting organized by the delegation of Uzbekistan Railways JSC at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism of Spain in July last year with the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan.
Until now, Uzbekistan Railways has purchased 6 Talgo-250 high-speed electric trains. The last batch was delivered in 2021.
Earlier, Uzbekistan announced an international tender for the purchase of 34 modern electric trains.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said at a meeting held in Tashkent region that it is planned to launch a modern electric train service to the cities of Bekabad, Almalyk, Chirchik, Angren, Yangiyul and Akhangaran.
