The incident happened on Monday, July 17 at noon. Faridun Mavlonov, the son of a family from Samarkand, was shot and killed near his residence, on 20th avenue.
The incident was reported to the police via 911, and when they arrived, the young man was taken to nearby Maimonedes Hospital in critical condition. The young man's death was recorded on Tuesday, July 18.

During the young man's funeral, many media representatives arrived and tried to talk to his relatives. NYT spoke with the boy's father, Firdavs Mavlonov. He said that his nephew told him on the phone that his son was shot. Faridun underwent two operations, but the bleeding did not stop. "Everyone knew my son. The killing of children must be stopped, it is very bad. Please help me," the father of the 15-year-old deceased said in an interview with NYT.
