Statistics Agency names regions with highest number of twin births
In January-June 2023, 434,519 births were registered in Uzbekistan.
According to the Statistics Agency, 9,810 of the newborns were twins.
The number of twin births by region:
- Samarkand region – 1,162
- Fergana region – 1,106
- Kashkadarya region – 983
- Tashkent city – 957
- Andijan region – 915
- Surkhandarya region – 772
- Tashkent region – 735
- Namangan region – 724
- Khorezm region – 524
- Jizzakh region – 482
- Bukhara region – 453
- Karakalpakstan R. – 440
- Navoi region – 314
- Syrdarya region – 243
