Statistics: About 4,800 road accidents occurred in Uzbekistan in 7 months, 1,115 people died in them
In the first 7 months of 2023, 4,772 traffic accidents were recorded in the territory of Uzbekistan. This was mentioned in the article of the newspaper “Xalq so‘zi” published on September 5 by the chairman of the Committee on Defense and Security of the Senate of Oliy Majlis, Qutbiddin Burkhonov.
2,453 or 51.4% of accidents occurred due to subjective reasons, that is, they were caused by drivers not paying attention to traffic rules.
In the past seven months, 1,115 people died in road traffic accidents in Uzbekistan, and 4,564 people received various injuries. It was found out that 1,078 people or 96.7% of those killed in traffic accidents were not wearing seat belts.
The article notes that 675 traffic accidents were recorded in the city of Tashkent in the last seven months of 2023. As a result of these incidents, 71 people died, 787 people were injured. 199 of the incidents were caused by speeding. In 90 cases, drivers did not pay attention to the prohibitory traffic light signal, and 8 accidents were committed by drunk drivers.
It should be recalled that in the first 6 months of 2022, 3,559 accidents occurred in Uzbekistan, in which 2,775 people were injured and 784 people died.
During 2022, a total of 9,902 accidents occurred in the territory of the republic, in which 2,356 citizens died and 9,606 were injured.
