Parliamentary upper houses of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan sign a cooperation agreement
The agreement between the Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and the Majlisi Milli Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan is aimed at strengthening inter-parliamentary relations and cooperation within international parliamentary structures.

Chairperson of the Senate of Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva in Dushanbe met with the Chairman of the Majlisi Milli Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan Rustami Emomali.
During the conversation, special attention was paid to the development and strengthening of bilateral ties, issues of further expansion of comprehensive cooperation were discussed.
An exchange of views took place on further intensification of the activities of friendship groups created between the upper houses of parliaments of the two countries. The need to establish joint work at the legislative level to bring the volume of mutual trade turnover to $1 billion was noted.
An agreement was also reached on taking effective measures to develop pilgrimage tourism.
At the end of the meeting, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and the Majlisi Milli Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan.
The agreement reflects issues of further strengthening inter-parliamentary relations, joint parliamentary monitoring of the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level, and continuation of close cooperation within the framework of international parliamentary structures.
The parties also agreed to develop and adopt a “roadmap” to improve the mechanism for joint monitoring of the implementation of agreements reached during high-level visits, exchange experience in the field of parliamentary activities, and improve relations between deputies of border regions and districts.
