Procedure for issuing a permit for mining activities in Uzbekistan established

The regulation “On the procedure for issuing a permit for mining activities” was registered.

The procedure for issuing a permit and organizing the mining activities in the territory of Uzbekistan has been established.

Mining is carried out only by the use of electricity produced by a legal entity through solar photoelectric power stations, except for the cases stipulated by legislation.

Miners can connect to the unified electric energy system in the cases provided for by the legislation, by installing the equipment for measuring the consumed electric energy.

Miners have the right to carry out their activities only at the address specified at the time of registration, in compliance with fire safety and sanitary norms and regulations.

It is prohibited to carry out the following in the territory of Uzbekistan:

•  secret mining;
•  anonymous crypto-asset mining;
•  mining at an address that does not correspond to the address indicated at the time of registration;
•  mining without permission.

Miners have the right to sell crypto-assets obtained as a result of mining through crypto-exchanges that have a license to engage in the activities of service providers in the field of crypto-asset circulation in Uzbekistan.

The expert commission approved by the head of the National Agency for Prospective Projects will review the submitted application within 15 days and prepare a conclusion on granting or refusing to grant a permit. Based on the expert commission’s conclusion, the authorized body will make a decision to grant or deny a permit within 5 days.

The permit is issued in the form of an electronic document with a QR code placed within one day from the day of the decision by the authorized body. There is no fee for processing the application and issuing a permit. The permit is issued for a period of 5 years.
