“4 people were arrested after the Sergeli explosion” – Government commission

On September 28, 4 people were arrested as part of the criminal case opened as a result of the fire and explosion in the warehouse of Interlogistics LLC located in the Sergeli district of Tashkent city, the Government Commission established to study and eliminate consequences of the explosion reported.

It is noted that the place where the fire started and where the explosion took place was in a warehouse made of metal and “sandwich” panels. As a result of the fire and explosion, the metal structures of the warehouse were deformed and collapsed.

In the warehouse where the fire occurred, it was found out that a large amount of chemicals, construction and other products were stored in a mixed manner without complying with the specified requirements. According to the results of the study, an explosion occurred due to the interaction of chemical substances and materials stored in the warehouse and chemical spontaneous combustion.

A large number of goods of different nomenclature of 12 tenant companies were stored in the area of the warehouse where the incident occurred.

The MIA investigation department initiated a criminal case against the case under Article 259-2 (violation of fire safety regulations), Paragraphs “a” and “b”. 4 people were arrested, 1 person was granted bail.

It was noted that the number of people injured in the incident was 163, 150 of them were lightly injured and 13 were seriously injured. One minor citizen died as a result of severe injuries. The health of all injured citizens has now been restored.

As a result of the incident, facade, window frames, doors and roof of 1,370 apartments in 39 multi-storey buildings and 246 households, 1 school and 1 kindergarten were damaged, and the total amount of damage was 14.5 billion soums. Now a contracting organization has been attached to these objects, and construction and repair work is being carried out.

It is noted that after the completion of the complex forensic examination, investigation and court proceedings, the amount of the determined damage will be fully recovered from the defendant found guilty in accordance with the law.

A final conclusion will be made based on the conclusions of the complex forensic examination and the results of the investigation.
