Investment projects worth $1 billion to be implemented in Kashkadarya

As Spot previously wrote, Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on the topic of socio-economic development of Kashkadarya region.

The President emphasized the need to create new businesses and jobs. In 2024, the region will attract $1 billion in investments, including $337 million from Russia and $352 million from China.

Thus, in Dekhkanabad, Kitab and Karshi districts, 100 hectares of land in industrial zones will be transferred to business for investment projects worth $300 million. Another $50 million will be allocated to the food industry of the region.

The cotton terminals of Karshi and Kitab are being converted into industrial parks with 5 thousand jobs. In addition, it is planned to open a textile technology park in Kashkadarya and invite famous European clothing brands to cooperate.

In the textile sector, 33 projects will be launched for $370 million. This will triple the production of fabric and by 60% – finished knitwear, as well as provide employment for 60 thousand people.

The head of state called for paying more attention to small businesses. Kashkadarya ranks last in Uzbekistan in terms of the share of small enterprises in industry, and the growth in the production of consumer goods lags behind the average by 3 times.

Another important topic was the processing of local raw materials - cement, graphite, porcelain raw materials, marble, manganese. It is planned to create a cluster near the Shurtan gas chemical complex to produce more than 100 types of products from polyethylene granules.

The problems of vocational education of young people were also touched upon. The President instructed officials to determine the needs of employers for specialists with secondary education in order to set goals for colleges and technical schools.

In addition, workshops for practical training will be opened in educational institutions. 30 billion soums will be allocated for this.

The President approved the proposal of a local entrepreneur to open an IT cluster and university in the vacant Kitab College.
