During the visit, Modi and Mirziyoyev will hold talks with their respective delegations to discuss measures to further develop the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and India.
The two leaders are expected to review cooperation in trade and investment, defence, digital connectivity, energy, education and people-to-people ties. They will also exchange views on advancing shared development goals under India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision and Uzbekistan’s Uzbekistan – 2030 strategy.
Modi’s program in Tashkent will also include visits to the Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.
After Uzbekistan, Modi will travel to Bishkek at the invitation of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov. He is scheduled to attend the 26th summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, with the meeting of the organization’s heads of state set for September 1.
The 2026 summit coincides with the 25th anniversary of the SCO. India has been a full member of the organization since 2017.
Modi will also attend the opening ceremony of the sixth World Nomad Games, which will take place in Bishkek on August 31. The Games will run until September 6, with the main sporting and cultural events held in the Issyk-Kul area.
