Uzbekistan appoints new ambassador to Iran
Fahriddin Nasriyev has been appointed Uzbekistan’s new ambassador to Iran. He replaced Bahodir Abdullayev, who headed the country’s diplomatic mission in the Islamic Republic for eight years.
Prior to the appointment – since 2018 – Nasriyev was the head of the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Kazan (Russia).
He started working in the banking system in 1999, and since 2003 he has worked in various structures of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including diplomatic missions in Belgium and NATO. In the Consular and Legal Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he served in positions from the 3rd secretary to the deputy director.
Nasriyev speaks English, French, Russian and Persian, the MFA said.
