Importing 27 types of hazardous waste into Uzbekistan to be banned
Import and export of ozone-depleting substances and products contained in them is determined to be carried out only through the “Single window” customs information system on the basis of an ecological certificate.
The draft decision of the Cabinet of Ministers “On measures to further improve control over the circulation of waste, certain types of dangerous products and chemicals in the territory of Uzbekistan” was announced.
In accordance with the Basel Convention, the draft resolution envisages banning the importation of 27 types of hazardous waste into the territory of Uzbekistan, approving the list of hazardous products and types of waste whose import and export are regulated by the state and subject to mandatory environmental certification.
In accordance with the Vienna Convention, the updated list of ozone-depleting substances and products containing them, which are prohibited to be imported into Uzbekistan, and the updated list of ozone-depleting substances and products containing them, whose import and export are regulated by the state and carried out according to a mandatory environmental certificate, are approved.
Import and export of ozone-depleting substances and products contained in them is determined to be carried out only through the “Single window” customs information system on the basis of an ecological certificate.
Quotas for the import of ozone-depleting substances will be implemented through electronic online auctions.
According to the Stockholm Convention, it is prohibited to import 32 types of plant protection products and other persistent organic pollutants into the territory of Uzbekistan.
