Ministry of Ecology: 160 enterprises in three districts of Tashkent need to install dust filters

The Ministry of Ecology sent a warning about the installation of dust and gas cleaning equipment at 160 enterprises of environmental impact categories I and II located in the Chilanzar, Sergeli and Yangikhayot districts.

The Ministry of Environment of Uzbekistan announced the monitoring of enterprises that have an impact on the environment in Tashkent.

During the monitoring, 70 enterprises of the Chilanzar district belonging to environmental impact categories I and II, including producers of concrete, flour products, ceramic tiles, textiles and other products, were given instructions to install dust and gas cleaning equipment.

Similar orders were sent to 68 enterprises in the Sergeli district and 22 enterprises in the Yangikhayot district.

The ministry states that in accordance with Article 9 of the Law “On nature protection”, 42 enterprises of the capital as of January 12, 2024 submitted an action plan. Of these, 75 measures to protect atmospheric air have been identified.

According to the information provided, 1,517 environmental impact assessment projects, 221 environmental impact statement projects, 371 air emissions control projects, 651 waste generation and disposal control projects, 3 wastewater regulation projects discharged into open water bodies will be implemented.

It is noted that the reviewed project documents gave a positive conclusion to 2,392 projects, 321 were returned for revision, and 50 received a negative conclusion. After eliminating these shortcomings, 189 objects received a positive conclusion from the environmental assessment.

“In 2022, environmental conclusions were given for 2,460 documents, and in 2023 this figure increased by 303. In particular, enterprises in the Chilanzar, Yangikhayot and Sergeli districts were inspected, and therefore mandatory instructions were given for the development of environmental regulations,” the report reads.

Earlier, at a press conference held by the Ministry of Ecology, journalists asked how many enterprises that pollute the air in Tashkent and the region are equipped with filters that purify emissions into the atmosphere, how many of them do not meet the established requirements. Representatives of the ministry reported that they do not have accurate statistics; they will provide this information to Kun.uz in the near future. However, this request has not yet been responded to.
