Construction of center for industrial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to begin in August
The center with an area of 92 hectares will be located in the Syrdarya and Turkestan regions.
The construction of a joint center for industrial cooperation “Central Asia” between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan is planned to begin in August of this year, the press service of the Syrdarya regional administration reports.
On February 16, Deputy Head of the MIIT Khurram Teshaboyev discussed with the Vice Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan Kairat Torebayev the implementation of a joint production project.
The center of industrial cooperation will be located in the Syrdarya and Turkestan regions of the two countries. The area of the complex is 92 hectares.
The manufactured products will be supplied to the markets of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, as well as exported to third countries. In the future, the volume of bilateral trade is planned to double – up to $10 billion.
The full launch of the complex is planned for 2030. The project will contribute to the growth of the regional gross product of the Syrdarya and Turkestan regions and will allow the border regions to become a major logistics center.
The project of the cross-border center of industrial cooperation “Central Asia” was announced in December 2021. The Ministry of Trade of Kazakhstan clarified that its main goal will be the implementation of joint industrial initiatives.
In November 2023, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan entered into an intergovernmental agreement to regulate the work of the joint center for industrial cooperation “Central Asia”. The priority is to create conditions for the development of cooperation ties and value chains.
In January of this year, the parties agreed to accelerate work on the creation of an international center for industrial cooperation “Central Asia”.
