Water consumers debt in Uzbekistan exceeds 950 billion UZS
Consumer water debt in Uzbekistan currently stands at 954 billion UZS.
Of the total debt, 767 billion UZS can be attributed to individual consumers, whereas legal entities account for 186 billion UZS of the indebtedness.
According to Akmal Muradov, head of the information service at “Uzsuvta’minot”, as of January this year, legal claims totaling 13.6 billion UZS have been filed with courts to reduce the debtor's backlog. The highest number of claims filed were by water supply companies in Tashkent city and Samarkand region.
As a result of special campaigns conducted by “Uzsuvta’minot” and regional water supply companies since the beginning of the current year, 696 cases of violations have been identified, with the total damage amounting to 5.5 billion UZS.
