Major Soviet–era water pipeline in Andijan to undergo full reconstruction
A major water pipeline built during the 1980s in Andijan region is slated for comprehensive reconstruction following a high-level working review led by Saida Mirziyoyeva. The modernization project is designed to resolve chronic supply vulnerabilities and secure a more resilient distribution grid for thousands of local homes and public institutions.
The infrastructure initiative served as a central agenda item during an operational meeting convened by Mirziyoyeva, which brought together the senior leadership of the Andijan regional administration alongside various district governors.

During the session, participants emphasized that structural cooperation across republic, regional, district, and neighborhood levels remains absolutely vital to correcting long-standing utility issues. Officials noted that the severity of local supply disruptions requires accelerated decision-making processes, strict compliance with construction deadlines, and the clear assignment of personal accountability among project managers.
Built over four decades ago, the aging mainline pipeline serves as a foundational component of the region's utilities framework, carrying drinking water to a substantial number of households, neighborhood communities, and civil organizations. Because the network has operated far past its intended structural lifespan, attendees concluded that launching the overhaul without further delay is critical. Once fully implemented, the engineering project is expected to significantly improve water quality indices and provide a stable, uninterrupted utility service for the regional population.
